My Edmonds News publisher Teresa Wippel will speak about “The Changing Face of the News” during the Tuesday, May 11 Edmonds Rotary Club noon meeting via Zoom.
After graduating with a journalism degree from Seattle University, Wippel started out in community journalism, working for neighborhood news publications in Seattle. An Edmonds resident since 1987, she is proud to say she has come full circle in founding the My Neighborhood News Network, which includes online community news websites in the South Snohomish County cities of Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.

Maritime transport is an essential part of international trade approximately 80% of global merchandise is shipped via sea.
Because of its importance, commercial shipping relies on strategic trade routes to move goods efficiently. These waterways are used by thousands of vessels a year but it’s not always smooth sailing. In fact, there are certain points along these routes that pose a risk to the whole system.
Here’s a look at the world’s most vulnerable maritime bottlenecks also known as choke points as identified by GIS.

THIS week has seen some fascinating new material added to the community layer of Know Your Place Worcester. Launched just over a week ago, alongside the NHS-hosted Life Stories website, local people are invited to share their own photographs, memories and knowledge of the city. An incredible audio recording dating to the early 1970s, captures the voice of an older gentleman who shared his memories of 60 years working at Hardy and Padmore, the famous Worcester iron foundry, based in Foundry Street.
