My Edmonds News publisher Teresa Wippel will speak about “The Changing Face of the News” during the Tuesday, May 11 Edmonds Rotary Club noon meeting via Zoom.
After graduating with a journalism degree from Seattle University, Wippel started out in community journalism, working for neighborhood news publications in Seattle. An Edmonds resident since 1987, she is proud to say she has come full circle in founding the My Neighborhood News Network, which includes online community news websites in the South Snohomish County cities of Edmonds, Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.

Irons Brothers Construction has received a 2021 Guildmaster with Distinction Award from GuildQuality “for their unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.” This is the design-build firm’s fourth year in a row receiving this award for their company’s distinguished customer service.
Since 2005, GuildQuality, an Atlanta-based third-party customer satisfaction software surveying company, has sponsored the Guildmaster Award to recognize and celebrate home building, remodeling, and contracting professionals who consistently deliver exceptional customer experiences.
Out of over 2,000 eligible applicants, Irons Brothers Construction is one of six local remodelers in King and Snohomish counties recognized by GuildQuality for consistently delivering superior customer care. Over 400 firms received awards.

This week’s coronavirus news is topped by ambitious vaccine distribution plans at all levels, and the spread of four distinct new viral variants, at least one of which has been identified in 20 states including Oregon, our neighbor to the south.
Scientists continue to maintain that while more contagious, these strains do not appear to cause more severe cases of COVID nor do they show increased resistance to the current vaccines. More information on the variants is available in this article from CNN.
On the bright side, Johns Hopkins University reports an 11% drop in new cases nationwide from last week’s peak, driven by declining numbers in 35 states – including Washington. Experts continue to stress the need to remain vigilant, as it is too soon to tell if this is the beginning of a trend or an isolated aberration.
