Sheriff: Grant man dead from self-inflicted shot after domestic call

An armed standoff in Grant ended after a man was found with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound that later proved fatal, according to Marshall County Sheriff Phil Sims. Deputies responded with Grant police to a domestic violence call at an address on Wooten Road in Grant Monday, according to Assistant Chief Deputy Steve Guthrie. When they got to the residence, they were met by a female who told then she ran from the home after an altercation with a man inside, Guthrie said in a press release. Law enforcement officers were told the man was intoxicated, armed and still inside the residence. Deputies tried to contact him through the doorway, Guthrie said, in hopes that he would come out, but they got no response.
