District VI council member Dr. Marte Martinez, who is also part of a team of surgeons at a local hospital, is the first council member to have the COVID-19 vaccine administered.
“I am honored and privileged to receive the vaccine,” Dr. Marte Martinez said. “As frontline personnel begin to receive the vaccine, I remain cautiously optimistic that the end of this horrific pandemic is in sight. As a medical professional, it was my duty to obtain the vaccine to prove it is safe. I do hope that the citizens of Laredo do consider getting the vaccine when the time comes. Until then, stay safe by following CDC guidelines.”
