The Weyburn Builds Program allows owners of new home builds, or RTMS moved in, to apply for a reduction of 75 per cent in property taxes for up to three years. The program also offers a grant amount of $50 per thousand dollars on approved construction value of major exterior renovations or additions to existing homes (minimum value of $5,000). At its April 26 meeting, council voted 7-0 in favour of the following changes to the program to expand the eligibility and increase local revitalization: • Expand the list of applicable new construction builds from just single family dwellings to include duplex dwelling units as well as semi-detached dwelling units.
To date, construction is 99 per cent complete with specialty finishes being installed and mechanical system commissioning underway. The facility remains on track for its scheduled opening in September 2021. Under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the Government of Canada will contribute up to $500,712, and the Government of Saskatchewan will contribute up to $417,218 toward the Credit Union Spark Centre (Weyburn Recreation and Cultural Centre) for several out-of-contract amenities including the indoor playground structure located in the MNP Play Centre, a National Hockey League sized arena board system, half-size International Federation of Association Football synthetic sports turf, synthetic sports turf covering, score clocks, spectator bleachers, and multi-sport video simulators.

A candy sale the proceeds to be used to provide financial support of Sacred Heart School. Auburn has been undertaken by the students of the school under the sponsorship of the Committee to Aid Sacred Heart: (CASH). The project, under the direction of Mrs. Roland Lajoie and Sr. Marcelle Roy, principal of the school, was one of many events scheduled by CASH at a recent meeting. Mrs. Lester J. Franck will have charge of the rummage sale to be held Friday. Apr. 23. Mrs. Normand St. Hilaire has charge of a May dance, an auction is tentatively set for the third week in July, and a card party is planned for September.
