MACON, Georgia Some students turned the page on the college career Monday. Mercer University held commencement at Five Star Stadium and about 800 students received their degrees.
It was the last of Mercer’s five commencement in May; they typically hold their ceremonies at Hawkins Arena. On Monday, graduates, their families, and university staff were all masked up and socially distant. Graduates said it was a very important day.

May 7, 2021 On Thursday, Chief Judge Marc Treadwell of the Middle District of Georgia ordered BioAnue Laboratories Inc. and two individuals to submit documentation detailing how they will comply with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations that the court found they were circumventing.
The United States’ 2013 complaint against BioAnue, CEO Gloria Raber, and her husband, Kelly Raber, sought a permanent injunction under the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FDCA) to restrict the defendants from marketing and selling products through their website that the U.S. characterized as drugs. Products with a drug classification are subject to the FDA’s standards that require approval to be circulated, the U.S. noted; however, these are standards that BioAnue did not meet.

Attorneys for a transgender woman facing repeated sexual assaults while housed in Georgia prisons are asking a federal judge for an emergency order to move her to a female facility and protect her health and safety.Â
Ashley Diamond, 42, said sheâs been attacked and sexually assaulted 16 times since she returned to prison 18 months ago, including 10 times at the same facility since June. But her pleas for help have been ignored by the Georgia Department of Corrections and her life is in jeopardy, according to emergency legal motions filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.
