Luke Rockhold’s road back to the UFC is proving more difficult than he imagined it would be.
Last year, Rockhold announced that after an extended hiatus he was looking to return to MMA and make one more run at the middleweight title. At the time, Rockhold was targeting a return fight against rival Chris Weidman, however with Weidman recently suffering a catastrophic leg injury, that fight is clearly not an option, but even outside of that, Rockhold is apparently struggling to find a return opponent that suits him. Speaking with Helen Yee recently, the former middleweight champion lamented the current state of the 185-pound division, saying that thus far none of the top-ranked guys have been willing to fight him.
A whirlwind week ended in a good result for Alex Morono, as the 30-year-old welterweight defeated Donald Cowboy Cerrone on short notice.
Morono (19-7) finished Cerrone via TKO at 4:40 of the opening round. The welterweight bout co-headlined the UFC Fight Night on Saturday, inside the Apex facility in Las Vegas. Cerrone (36-16) was originally scheduled to face Diego Sanchez, but the UFC pulled Sanchez from the bout due to medical concerns and released him from its roster, and Morono was more than ready to take his place.

Another weekend of fisticuffs has come and gone with UFC Vegas 26 storming UFC APEX this past weekend (Sat., May 8, 2021) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Plenty of fighters were left licking their wounds, including Michelle Waterson, who suffered a unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Marina Rodriguez in the main event (see it here).
And Geoff Neal, who racked up his second straight loss after coming up short to long-time veteran Neil Magny. But, which fighter is suffering from the worst post-fight hangover, now a few days removed from the show?
