Producer prices for manufactured products fell by 4.6 per cent
from November last year
According to Statistics Finland, producer
prices for manufactured products fell by an average of 4.6 per cent
from November 2019 to November 2020. The producer prices for
manufactured products sold on the domestic market declined by 3.5
per cent, while the producer prices of export products fell by 5.7
per cent.

The drop in the producer prices for manufactured products was
particularly attributable to fallen prices of oil products,
electricity, as well as pulp, paper, paperboard and cardboard from
November 2019.

Retail trade flash estimate: turnover grew by 6.6 per cent
year-on-year in November
According to Statistics Finland’s retail
trade flash estimate, the working day adjusted turnover of retail
trade increased by 6.6 per cent in November from November 2019. The
volume of retail trade sales, from which the impact of price
changes has been eliminated, increased by 5.3 per cent over the
same period. In daily consumer goods trade, the working day
adjusted turnover increased by 7.3 per cent in November and the
sales volume, in turn, by 5.7 per cent from the corresponding
period of the previous year.

Greenhouse gas emissions fell in 2019, emission reduction
targets for 2013 to 2020 attainable
According to Statistics Finland s preliminary
data, the total emissions of greenhouse gases in 2019 correspond
with 53.1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2 eq.),
being 18.2 million tonnes less than in the comparison year 1990.
Emissions fell by six per cent from the previous year. The fall in
emissions was most influenced by the decreased use of coal and
peat. Emissions not included in the EU Emissions Trading System
fell by one per cent but exceeded the annual emission allocation
set by the EU by 0.6 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent. The net sink

Total energy consumption decreased and consumption of renewable
energy grew by one per cent in 2019
According to Statistics Finland, total
consumption of energy in Finland amounted to 1.36 million
terajoules (TJ) in 2019, which corresponded to a fall of one per
cent compared with the previous year. The consumption of
electricity totalled 86.1 terawatt hours (TWh), which was two per
cent less than in the previous year. The consumption of fossil
fuels and peat decreased in total by seven per cent. The
consumption of coal and peat decreased most, by 20 and 8 per cent.

Gross domestic product grew by 1.1 per cent in 2019
According to Statistics Finland’s
preliminary data, the volume of Finland’s GDP grew by 1.1 per
cent in 2019 from the year before. A more extensive update to the
2019 data will be made on 26 February, when the final enterprise
data will be included. The data for 2019 became revised in December
mainly as concerns general government finances, financing and
insurance. The volume of GDP in 2018 became revised to 1.3 per cent
as a result of revised price structure (previously 1.5 per cent).
