HARBOR BEACH – The Harbor Beach girls basketball team relied on its defense on Monday night as the Pirates picked up their third win of the season, a 30-20 win over visiting Brown City.
On a night when the Pirates offense struggled, head coach Jim Tamlyn said his defense was able to bail them out, holding the Green Devils to just 7 points in the first half. One problem area for Harbor Beach was free-throw shooting, with the Pirates going just 10-of-22 from the line.

Pirates head coach Jim Tamlyn said the condensed season has started with a hectic pace that won’t let up until the season is over and his team is dealing with a short bench, but he and his players are happy to be back playing and they are looking forward to their matchup with Ubly on Monday night. He has two new varsity players in Bischer and freshman Jahn, and he was pleased with how the Pirates played as team on Saturday.
