MEMPHIS The Ubly girls basketball team picked up its fifth straight win on Monday night, overpowering host Memphis, 48-16.
The Bearcats are now 5-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Ubly head coach Joel Leipprandt attributed his team’s improved play to changes the Bearcats have made since the start of the season.
“The girls are adjusting to their new roles and our overall energy has been improving every game,” Leipprandt said. “Our offensive timing is getting better, as well.”
Leading the way for the Bearcats on Monday night were Dajnae Leipprandt with 17 points, Josie Gusa with 9, Madeline Langenburg with 8, Kylie Maurer and Hally Zeihm with 5 each and Hailey Mausolf with 4.

UBLY – Dajnae Leipprandt had a career night with 27 points and 12 rebounds as the Ubly girls basketball team extended its winning streak to three games on Monday, running past the visiting Memphis Yellowjackets, 54-16.
The Bearcats came out of the gate strong, building a 16-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and extending that lead to 28-10 by halftime. It was more of the same in the third as the Bearcats outscored the Yellowjackets 18-6 and led 46-16 heading into the final quarter.
Other leaders on the night for the Bearcats were Kylie Maurer with 9 points and Sam Souva with 6. Josie Gusa and Elizabeth Weber had 4 points each, and Shelby Messing had 3.

HARBOR BEACH The Harbor Beach girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday afternoon with 48-7 victory over Capac.
Leading the way for the Pirates (1-1) were Maya Pfaff with 13 points, Mariah Jahn and Josie Kozfkay with 7 points each, Maddie Geiger and Paige Anderson with 6 points each, Brenna Bischer with 5 and Leandra Wolschlager with 4.
Pirates head coach Jim Tamlyn said the condensed season has started with a hectic pace that won’t let up until the season is over and his team is dealing with a short bench, but he and his players are happy to be back playing and they are looking forward to their matchup with Ubly on Monday night. He has two new varsity players in Bischer and freshman Jahn, and he was pleased with how the Pirates played as team on Saturday.
