NEW DELHI: After avoiding campaigning in West Bengal so far, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday attacked both BJP and Mamata Banerjee-led TMC in his first rally in the state. BJP wants to destroy and divide Bengal, they are doing same thing in Assam and Tamil Nadu, said Rahul Gandhi at a rally in Goalpokhor.
The former Congress president also mocked BJP s slogan of building Sonar Bangla and said the party sells the same dream in every state . In every state, they say similar things like Sonar Bangla. But, they only offer dividing people on the basis of religion, caste and language, the Congress leader said.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday met familes of those killed in CISF firing during the fourth phase of Assembly elections and asserted that her government will launch a probe to bring the culprits to book.
The Shiv Sena, which is not contesting the polls, has extended its support to Banerjee, who heads the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
MUMBAI: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday alleged that the election commission s decision to bar West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee from campaigning for 24 hours was taken at the behest of the BJP. This was a direct attack on democracy and sovereignty of independent institutions of the country, Raut claimed in a tweet.
The Sena s chief spokesperson expressed solidarity with Banerjee, while terming as the Bengal Tigress .
Assembly elections are currently underway in West Bengal.

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday sat on a dharna in the heart of the city to protest against the Election Commission s unconstitutional decision to ban her from campaigning for 24 hours. Banerjee, still confined to a wheelchair owing to the injuries she sustained last month
