Grand Rapids Griffins surrender three power play goals in loss to Chicago

Chicago defeated the Griffins 5-1 at Van Andel Arena, with three-straight goals coming off power plays. Two of the goals came off 5-on-3 opportunities, which enabled the Wolves to open a 4-0 lead.
“If you look at the power plays that we have given up, two of the three tonight were 5-on-3s,” said Griffins coach Ben Simon, whose team dropped to 11-7-3-0. “They were ranked fourth in the league coming into the game in power plays, and if you give them two 5-on-3s for two full minutes, it’s not going to be pretty.

The Grand Rapids Griffins’ 2020-21 season may be delayed, but that’s not going to stop the team from continuing a two-decade long tradition.
The Griffins’ annual Teddy Bear Toss is going to be different this year, though. The Griffins, along with J&H Family Stores are hosting a drive-thru Teddy Bear Toss & Holiday Drive Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Griff’s IceHouse at Belknap Park, 30 Coldbrook St. NE.
