GRAND TOWER, ILLINOIS (WSIL) After being closed for more than two years, Devil s Backbone Park is set to reopen this week.
Camp officials met with Illinois State Senator Terri Bryant (58th District) Saturday morning. They reviewed the work that is completed, and what remains to be done before welcoming back campers.
The camp will open at a limited capacity, and bring more sites and services online throughout the season. Flood waters first closed its gates in 2019, followed by the pandemic and a denial of disaster funding through FEMA.
Now, Bryant is commending the campground for its local efforts in rebuilding.
