Providence police investigate drive-by shooting Saturday on Manton Avenue

PROVIDENCE The police are investigating the drive-by shooting of a 21-year-old Providence man on Manton Avenue Saturday night.
The police responded at 9:25 p.m. to a report of shots fired at Amherst and Julian streets in the city’s West End, and soon received a call from a woman who said her son had been shot at while driving on Manton Avenue, Commander Thomas Verdi said.
They found Dayvon Robinson, 21, who had crashed the Honda Civic he was driving at Sheridan Street and Manton Avenue with a gunshot wound to the back of his right shoulder. His passenger, Alexcia Johnson, 22, had suffered a right leg injury in the crash.
Gun Seized

Police spoke with the occupants of the vehicle, where police said marijuana could be smelled. Police removed the operator, who had a previous firearm arrest. Two other occupants were removed from the vehicle.
While searching the vehicle police located a black PT111G2A Taurus .9mm inside of a black purse in the back seat of the vehicle. All subjects were then placed into handcuffs.
