A disqualified motorist has been jailed for 32 weeks after he was caught taking his family on a shopping trip to Asda in a second-hand ambulance - with the emergency lights flashing. The emergency vehicle was carrying a family when it rolled up to the supermarket in Harpurhey, Greater Manchester, last night, according to police. Traffic cops said the group parked up and promptly went inside to do their shopping before the driver was apprehended and found to be disqualified. Blessing Mukaukirwa, 32, appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court today and was handed a 32-week prison sentence for driving while disqualified and using a motor vehicle without a third party insurance.

At Manchester Magistrates Court the five people from Bolton were among a slew of offenders from throughout Greater Manchester convicted of ignoring the rules last September and October. TRAGIC: Shirley-Ann Dumbuya MORE than £6,000 has been raised to help the family of a University of Bolton nursing student who died in a horror crash on the M60 last week. Mum-of-four Shirley-Ann Dumbuya was driving her Kia Ceed car near junction 20 of the motorway just before 8.45am last Thursday when she was involved in a collision with a lorry. Emergency services were called but Shirley Ann, 38, from Moston, died at the scene. Following her death, tributes to her flooded in. And a crowdfunding page has been set up to raise funds for Shirley-Ann s family to help pay for her funeral and ease the financial burden on her husband.
