New details emerge in Deer Creek graduate drowning death

Oklahoman Investigators say an 18-year-old Deer Creek High School graduate who drowned at a pool party earlier this summer may have accidentally fallen in the water or entered on his own after consuming alcohol and marijuana.   Emergency responders pronounced Oluwatoyin “Toyin” Amuda dead about 3:11 a.m. June 16 in the 21600 block of Villagio Drive in an unincorporated area west of Edmond. The state medical examiner’s office initially determined the manner of Amuda’s death was an “accident” but has since updated its determination to “pending.” Witness interviews conducted by the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office reveal that around 25 people under the age of 21 were at the party at one point, and the pool’s lights turned off around 12:30 a.m.
