9 new COVID-19 deaths reported in Grant County

Updated: 4:11 PM PDT June 29, 2021 GRANT COUNTY, Wash. The Grant County Health District reported nine new deaths from COVID-19. According to a press release from the Grant County Health Officer, eight of the individuals were unvaccinated and eight had underlying health conditions.  These recent deaths bring the COVID-19 death toll in Grant County to 134. Public Information Officer Misty Aguilar confirmed that the cases were not related. The GCHD reported one man in his 30 s, one woman in her 40 s, one man in his 60 s, two men in their 60 s, three men in their 70 s and one man in his 80 s were among the nine reported deaths.

Child recovering from Grant County s first reported case of MIS-C

GRANT CO., Wash. Health officials have reported the first case of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS-C) in a child in Grant County on Friday. The child who is under 10 years old spent several days in the Intensive Care Unit, but is now stable and recovering at home, according to the Grant County Health District. MIS-C can cause inflammation to organs, fever, and severe illness and has been linked to children who have previously tested positive for COVID-19. The syndrome is found in people under 21 and can cause mild symptoms or, in more severe cases, lead to hospitalization and death. There have been 42 known cases reported throughout Washington in the past year.

Dec 16, 2020 23 residents at a nursing home in Washington have died of COVID-19. This is after employees attended a 300 person wedding and worked without knowing they contracted COVID-19. In a press release, the Grant County Health Officer expressed his condolences to the families, GCHD staff and I wish to extend our most sincere condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and to our communities affected by these tragic deaths of our most vulnerable community members. We also extend our encouragement and sympathies to the many dedicated healthcare staff and community members who have joined us on this fight against our common enemy.
