An Audubon man accused of breaking into a Manning business last week was taken into custody this (Wednesday) morning. According to court records, 25-year-old Zeth Lee Petersen was booked into the Carroll County jail on a charge of third-degree burglary, a class D felony. A Manning Police Department affidavit alleges Petersen forcibly entered the Manning Service Center at 503 North Main St. and stole multiple tools and a motor vehicle. Peterson was released on his own recognizance Wednesday after appearing before a magistrate. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 12. A class D felony in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines.
