This is made clear in Mind’s June 2020 report titled ‘The Mental Health Emergency’, which looks at the effect of the pandemic on mental health; they found that out of around 16,000 people who participated in their study, over half of adults and over two thirds of teenagers told of their worsened mental health in the early April to May period of 2020. Loneliness was also found to have been a key contributor to this, affecting over two thirds of people but in particular those between the ages of 18 and 24. Therefore, there is no doubt that the pandemic has heightened the need to promote strategies and techniques to better manage our well-being, specifically amongst young people, and a group of students at my school are doing just that.
