Schaffner elected Sidney BOE president
SIDNEY Jason Schaffner was elected president of the Sidney City Schools Board of Education during its organizational meeting Tuesday night.
Schaffner was nominated by Michele Lott and Bob Smith nominated Mandi Croft for president. After a roll call,Schaffner received three votes to be president and Croft received one vote. Linda Meininger was not present to vote on the nominations. She later joined the meeting via You Tube
The board then voted for Schaffner to be president. The motion passed 4-0.
Schaffner takes over as president from Smith, who has served in that position for several years.

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, MICH. â Jenison Public Schools made a tough call this week, but school officials say they had no other option.
The district says students who are attending their temporary extended traditional learning, the virtual learning program they created amidst the pandemic, are failing at a higher rate than students attending school in person.
âWe had about 25% of our students that were learning remotely that had failed at least one course,â Jenison High School Principal Brandon Graham said.

Jordan Frost
Former student body president and student regent and current Washington educator Jordan Frost received Washington State University’s inaugural First-Generation Alumni Excellence Award, presented by the Office of Academic Engagement (OAE).
First-generation students are those whose parents did not graduate from college with a bachelor’s degree. Frost earned two degrees at WSU a B.A. in history in 2018, and a Master in Teaching in 2019. While an undergraduate in Pullman, he was elected and served as head of the Associated Students of Washington State University; as a graduate student, he was selected to serve on the college’s Board of Regents.
