We’ve reported on Taco Bell rumors for more than two decades. One claimed that the Taco Bell dog stopped appearing in ads because he died. Another said that the fast food restaurant chain served “Grade D but edible” meat. While those two claims were quite old, a new rumor popped up in January 2021 on the SheFinds.com website. It appeared to claim that Taco Bell’s menu had changed in January 2021: “Taco Bell Removed The Most Insane Items From Its Menu–Customers Are Freaking Out!”
The article, published on Jan. 7, began by mentioning that “Taco Bell removed 13 popular menu items in 2020.” However, it then appeared to reprint an old story as if the developments were new in January 2021:

2020 was a tough year. Especially for those like myself who love Taco Bell. Back in August, the chain got rid of over a dozen items including: the Grilled Steak Soft Taco, the 7-Layer Burrito, Nachos Supreme, the Beefy Fritos Burrito, the Spicy Tostada, Triple Layer Nachos, the Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, Loaded Grillers (Cheesy Potato, Beefy Nacho), Chips & Dips, and the Mini Skillet Bowls on the breakfast menu. Then in November, Taco Bell dropped the Mexican Pizza, pico de gallo and shredded chicken from the menu.

Taco Bell has removed over a dozen menu items this year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and customers changing tastes, and not everyone has been happy with the changes.
In addition to fan-favorite items like its cheesy potatoes, nachos supreme, and the famous Quesarito, other items like the Mexican Pizza and two different kinds of nachos have also been removed from Taco Bell menus this year.

In late July, Taco Bell announced it would officially be dropping potatoes from its menu in August 2020. Affected menu items include Taco Bell s Spicy Potato Soft Taco, Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes, and Cheesy Potato Loaded Grillers. We know some vegetarian go-to items might be gone, but Taco Bell s menu remains highly customizable, Taco Bell said in a press release.
However, the statement didn t stop vegetarian customers and potato-lovers from taking to social media to air their concerns. One Twitter user called the move to drop potatoes the chain s worst idea to date.
