A young couple who moved from Adelaide to Sydney s expensive eastern suburbs and still managed to save enough for a house deposit have revealed their top budgeting tip.
Nick Jungfer, 27, and Maddie Rhodes, 26, realised they no longer needed their two cars and would get where they needed by cycling, walking, or using public transport and for longer trips, they could use a car sharing service.
The pair used a car cost saving calculator, launched on Thursday morning by Car Next Door, to work out they had shelled out $70,679.86 over four years on purchasing Maddie s car, Nick s two cars, and the associated expenses.

Lifestyle by Kathy Skantzos 10th Feb 2021 1:32 PM When Nick Jungfer, 27, and his partner Maddie Rhodes, 26, made the move from Adelaide to Sydney in December 2019, their cost of living jumped dramatically and they knew they needed to find a way to save. The couple realised they no longer needed their two cars in Sydney and would instead get around on public transport, cycling and walking. It just made sense to ditch the cars, which we couldn t afford anyway, Nick said.
