Move gives relief to patients rushing to Hyderabad for medical care
After being pulled up by the High Court for not allowing ambulances and other vehicles carrying COVID-19 patients from Andhra Pradesh to cross the inter-State border, Telangana police on Tuesday partially allowed the movement of vehicles on Tuesday. However, ambulances from Maharashtra were not allowed in Mancherial district.

Hyderabad, May 11 : Telangana logged 4,801 new Covid-19 cases and 32 deaths during the 24-hour period ending 5.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The fresh cases pushed the state s cumulative tally to 6,06,988 while the death toll climbed to 2,803.
The case fatality rate stands at 0.55 per cent against the national average of 1.1 per cent.
According to the daily media bulletin by the Health Department, the state continues to see more recoveries than the new cases.
As many as 7,430 people recovered from Covid during the period, taking the cumulative recoveries to 4,44,049.

A total of 4,801 coronavirus cases and 32 deaths were reported in Telangana on Tuesday, taking the infection tally and toll to 5,06,988 and 2,803, respectively.
With another 7,430 infected persons declared recovered, the number of recoveries have gone up to 4,44,049. The active COVID cases on Tuesday evening were 60,136, including those in home and institutional isolation.

The Telangana government on Tuesday announced a 10-day lockdown in the state to rein in the sudden surge in coronavirus cases. The new curbs will come into effect from Wednesday and will be in force till May 22.
However, there would be relaxation for all the activities between 6 am and 10 am, said the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office. After 10 am, only essential activities will be allowed.

Despite no restrictions on the inter-State travel between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by the government, Jogulamba-Gadwal police imposed restrictions on the movement of ambulances at the border near Pullur toll gate on the border.
Dozens of medical emergency vehicles from the Rayalaseema region, especially from the Kurnool and Kadapa districts, were queued on the border with police not allowing the vehicles to come to Hyderabad. All the ambulances were carrying the COVID-19 positives patients who were in need of immediate quality medical assistance. They were being shifted to various hospitals in Hyderabad and as well as in Mahabubnagar.
