Gunmen kill SSPDF officer in Rumbek East County
Police authorities in Rumbek East County of South Sudan s Lakes State say an SSPDF officer in charge of a military garrison has been killed by unknown gunmen.
The incident occurred in his military outpost headquarters of Pacong on Tuesday.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Rumbek East county deputy commissioner of police Brig. Gen. Makur Dak said he has heard the killing of an SSPDF Maj. Mabor Majak Malok in Pacong. I am aware of the incident which occurred in Pacong on Tuesday where SSPDF soldier Maj. Mabor Majak Malok was killed by unknown gunmen, he said.
Gunmen attack a village in Rumbek Centre, leave two dead
At least two people have been killed by a group of gunmen in Rumbek Centre County of South Sudan’s Lakes State on Thursday, police and local leaders said.
Brig. Gen. Makur Dak, the state’s deputy police commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that the attack was launched on Kuel-Malony village of Amongpiny Payam.
The police officer said the attackers are believed to be from Panyijiar County of Unity state. He revealed that the incident resulted in the killing of at least two people and wounding of one person.
Gunmen kill soldier, a farmer in separate incidents in Lakes State
Authorities of Rumbek East County of Lakes State say a government soldier and a tobacco farmer were killed by armed men in Rumbek East County over the weekend.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the deputy police commissioner Brig. Gen. Makur Dak said the two incidents occurred in different locations of Abin-gong and Ameth-Magak areas of Rumbek East County on Saturday and Sunday.
He said the soldier was shot dead when a vehicle he was traveling in was ambushed by armed men in Abin-gong border point while returning from escorting cattle traders to Alualuak. The gunmen escaped unhurt.
Drunk teenager shoots, kills driver in Rumbek
Police in Rumbek, Lakes State have said that they arrested a teenager who killed the driver of a commuter vehicle on Monday evening in Rumbek East.
The suspect, Mathat Kokde Maker, who is said to have been drunk at the time allegedly shot and killed the driver at 7 pm in the area of Karic while the latter was transporting passengers from Juba to Rumbek.
The deputy commissioner of police in Rumbek East County, Brigadier Makur Dak, told Radio Tamazuj that the suspect was apprehended and handed over to Rumbek town police for investigation and imprisonment.
