Lohri is not just the festival of harvest but also of food and merriment. The festival is celebrated in January and marks the end of winter and the time to harvest rabi crops. A bonfire is lit, families whirl around it singing Punjabi folk songs and popping sesame seeds, popcorn, jaggery and rewaris. Like any other Indian festival, Lohri is incomplete without some appetizing, traditional foods. From makke ki roti and sarso ka saag to gajar ka halwa, the festival brings along many recipes that add sweetness to the celebrations.

Avinesh Rekhi as Sarabjit Gill of Choti Sarrdaarni said, âThe best thing about Lohri is that it falls in winters which is my favorite season of the year. I always make sure that I celebrate this festival in Chandigarh with my family and close friends but this year due to my work commitments I will be in Mumbai. I love gorging on food, sweets and most importantly the groundnuts. This year, I will celebrate the festival with my wife and kids. I love sitting around the bonfire and this is possible back at home, and I have some very fond memories of the time!â
