Treedome and WINONArts are announcing the return of the outdoor, socially distanced eight-part series of events Lake Park Drive-In: Music and Movies set to take place all summer long with outdoor live music concerts and feature film screenings at the Lake Park Bandshell. With a combination of vehicle spots and socially distanced outdoor seating, Lake Park Drive-In is bringing outdoor, accessible, family events back to Winona.
“This event was a big success with only four showings last year. We are excited to bring back this program with an expanded lineup of musicians and movies that will last all summer long,” said Maggie Panetta, production director of Treedome.

WINONA, Minn. (WKBT) People will be able to catch free live music and a movie, plus get a COVID-19 vaccine, during an event May 29 in Winona.
The city of Winona and Winona County Sheriff’s office will hold a free vaccine clinic during the first Lake Park Drive In Music and Movies Event at 6:30 p.m. May 29.
The event will feature Annie Mack, a Rochester-based soulful singer and songwriter, and a showing of West Side Story on the big screen. People can sign up for a spot at the drive-in event on Eventbrite and check a box to receive the single-dose Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at 9 p.m.

AUSTIN The Hormel Historic Home celebrates its Foodie Throwdown Monday through Friday.
Six events offer opportunities to celebrate culinary fun while supporting the Hormel Historic Home, starting at 6 p.m. Monday with the History Happy Hour: Rationing & Victory Gardens in World Wars.” Other events during the week include “Tequila & Tacos,” “Anita Ulwelling Memorial Card/Game Party,” “Beer, Brats, and Polka,” “Bartender Showcase BBQ Style,” and “An Evening in Johnny Cash Black.”

After months indoors, a little outdoor activity like ice skating at one of Rochester’s many rinks is the perfect escape.
Jessica Schmitt enjoys skating several times a week with her 10-year-old daughter, Lucy.
“The oval at Soldiers Field is well maintained and very atmospheric, especially at night with the Christmas lights,” she said. “For nighttime skating, we recently learned how to turn on the huge overhead lights, too, so that makes it feel safe. Ultimately, you really can’t beat the views of the city from Soldiers Field!”
