In the first game of the 2021 SEC softball tournament, Auburn played South Carolina, the lowest-ranked team, and lost 3-1, ending its SEC season.
The Tigers finished the regular season 27-21 and the SEC season 7-16. With this loss, they are now 27-22 and 7-17. It will be their final record unless they get picked for the NCAA tournament. The selections are announced at 8 p.m. CT on Sunday.

BATON ROUGE – The Auburn Tigers evened up the three-game softball series with LSU Saturday night with a mid-game outburst that led to a 9-5 decision before a crowd of 1,829 at Tiger Park.
LSU and Auburn will play the final game of the series and the final game of the regular season Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Tiger Park. The game will be streamed on SECN + and broadcast on the LSU Sports Radio Network (107.3 FM in Baton Rouge).

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Auburn evened the series against No. 13 LSU with a 9-5 win on Saturday, May 8 in Tiger Park.
Auburn got things started in the fourth inning in a scoreless game with three runs, the first two coming on a Makayla Packer home run just over the left field fence with a runner on board that made it 2-0.
The visiting Tigers then got another run across thanks to three balls in the infield that would eventually score Maddison Koepke to make it 3-0.

The day after Auburn softball lost its final home series with three-straight one-run losses, its starting shortstop and third best batter Makenna Dowell entered the transfer portal according to a source.
Dowell, a senior from Suwanee, Ga., has started since the beginning of her junior year but has contributed since she was a freshman. She played 42 contests with 31 starts as a freshman and played in 27 games as a sophomore.
