Tracy Khan was left to run three businesses on her own after her husband, Mohammed Imran, was killed in the March 15 terror attack. Widow Manal Dokhan barely sleeps two hours at a time at night, and lives in constant fear of further violence. While support was constant in the initial days, she often felt forgotten, she said. Behind Dokhan’s smile, she was tired. Two years of life without her husband was too hard. “Sometimes I don’t say how I am doing because some people might be tired of hearing about my problems. But I definitely still need help, even just to get through the daily stuff.”

A young woman who grew up in a Kurdish refugee camp and stepped up to help her community during the Christchurch mosque attacks is a finalist in the University of Canterbury Young New Zealander of the Year.

3pm at Christchurch Arena. The service will mark the second anniversary of the Christchurch terror attack. Fifty-one people died and dozens were injured at the Masjid An-Nur (Al Noor mosque) and Linwood Islamic Centre when a terrorist gunman opened fire on March 15, 2019. Saturday s service is an opportunity to stand in solidarity with those affected, and will be jointly led by the local Muslim community, the Christchurch City Council standing with Ngāi Tūāhuriri as mana whenua, and the Government.
