Zanesville man receives fifth OVI
ZANESVILLE - The Zanesville Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol reported that Joseph Kirkpatrick, 53, of Zanesville, was arrested and charged on Thursday with his fifth overall count of operating a vehicle impaired.
The post said Kirkpatrick was stopped on State Street for driving with no lights on and during the investigation was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He s scheduled to appear in Zanesville Municipal Court at 8 a.m. May 13.
Athens Road closing for work
ZANESVILLE - The Muskingum County Engineer s Office has announced that East Athens Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 12 for culvert replacement from Roseville to the Morgan County line.

AAA Region 9 offering HEAP
CAMBRIDGE - The Area Agency on Aging Region 9 via the Ohio Development Services Agency is offering a Home Energy Assistance Program for those at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines for payment of heating bills.
Applications will be accepted through May 31 and benefits can be applied to heating bills after Jan. 1. Applications and more information are available at energyhelp.ohio.gov. One must provide most recent utility bills, list of household members, proof of income and citizenship and proof of disability if applicable.

Engineer s office announces road closures
ZANESVILLE - The Muskingum County Engineer s Office has announced that Pleasant Valley Road will be closed from May 3 to 7 from Ohio 146 to Cottage Hill Road. Railroad contractors will be replacing the crossing near Claypool Road.
Wolf Run Road will be closed for a culvert pipe replacement from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday from Ohio 146 to Clay Pike.
Blood drives upcoming
ZANESVILLE - Several Red Cross blood drives are planned upcoming in the local area.
Drives will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 1 at the Unity Church of the Nazarene, 2 to 7 p.m. May 5 at the Wayne Township Hall by the Philo Lions Club, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 5 and 1 to 7 p.m. May 3 and 10 at Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 2 to 7 p.m. May 11 at the Colony Square Mall, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 14 at Zanesville High School and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 15 at the South Zanesville United Methodist C
Kopchak Road closing Monday
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Engineer’s Office reports Kopchak Road between West Pike and Ridge Road will be closed Monday, April 18 through Friday, April 23. The closure will occur daily from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Crews will be replacing culverts under the roadway. Motorists should plan their routes accordingly and allow more time to reach their destinations.
