Caitlyn Barr received the honor at the Miss Iowa Youth Program Pageant last Sunday, July 11th at the Muscatine Center for Performing Arts. Caitlyn is the 9-year-old daughter of Jill and Mike Barr. She is active in gymnastics, school, and her community. Caitlyn s favorite place to help is People for Pets. She is also a student of The Turn Around in Storm Lake. Muscatine elementary students need cereal boxes for giant domino chain assembled with STEM skills The students are aiming to collect 6,000 boxes of cereal for the project, which will later be donated to area food banks. Author: WQAD Digital Team Updated: 2:09 PM CDT April 21, 2021 MUSCATINE, Iowa Students at Jefferson Elementary School are asking for help to complete a project they re calling The Jefferson Cereal Challenge.  The kids are asking for cereal donations, which will double as a STEM project and a future donation to local food banks. The school posted an informational video on their Facebook page in mid-April. The goal is to make a massive domino chain around the school, constructed with lessons from Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  

Neighborhood revitalization project begins in Muscatine

The M-C-S-A and First Presbyterian Church pair to create affordable living Author: Nina Burns (WQAD) Updated: 8:53 AM CDT April 12, 2021 MUSCATINE, Iowa The Muscatine center for social action and First Presbyterian Church worked together to launch the double your dollars for housing campaign. The campaign s goal is to demolish old housing in order to make space for affordable living areas. Volunteers worked on the sixth street property in downtown Muscatine Friday through Saturday to begin demolition of the old property.  The Muscatine Center for Social Action says they city is nearly 1,000 units short of affordable workforce housing. The team has big plans for the property.
