GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - In remembrance of Tyerune Blocker, 44, who was shot and killed, loved ones released balloons not to just mourn his loss but also celebrate his life.
More than 50 friends, family and neighbors arrived at Monteocha Park in Gainesville for the memorial.
Blocker’s cousin and great friend Sybil Young spoke with him just days before he passed and never saw this coming.
“You know it’s just something I never thought would happen to him, never imagined happening to him,” Young said.

ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. - A middle school math teacher is among three people facing charges in a deadly shooting in Alachua County, deputies say.
A spokesperson with Marion County Public Schools says 30-year-old Martesha Johnson taught at Fort King Middle School. We hired her in 2012 and she is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the legal investigation and our internal investigation, Public Relations Director Kevin Christian said. This is normal procedure for any employee. She also has not been on the Fort King Middle campus for the last five weeks for personal reasons.

A Marion County teacher was one of three people arrested in connection with a murder in Alachua County on Monday, according to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office.
The teacher, 30-year-old Martesha Williams Johnson, along with 32-year-old Jasmine Webb and 36-year-old Doug Heath were taken into custody following the murder of 44-year-old Tyerune G. Blocker, deputies said.
Deputies said Webb, Heath and Johnson went to 1307 Northwest 223rd Lane in Brooker after an ongoing argument on social media and phone between Heath, Webb and a secondary victim.
