Darrian Martin had only 21 years to live, but her family and friends say she made the most of her time â in fact, she was just starting to figure herself out and was pursuing her passions. Darrian was killed last month when the off-road vehicle she was driving was struck by a semi at the end of her driveway in Lemoore. First responders did everything possible and over 50 units of blood were used to save her. And while she didnât make it, those who knew her best said she was still with them, and always will be. In the family living room filled with Darrian s parents, grandparents, close friends and other family, everyone recalled Darrian, along with the patchwork of interests and quirks that helped to make her who she was. It was a room full of tears and laughter at the memories.

Lemoore well passes state tests; water restrictions may be lifted by week s end

The City of Lemoore has cleared a major hurdle in the process of getting the damaged Well Site 7 up and running, and may be able to lift watering restrictions for the public by the end of this week. City Manager Nathan Olson said Tuesday that the Station 7 Water Facility Complex (or Well Site 7) has restored power and passed the stateâs bacteria testing, giving them approval for release. He said they were working on finalizing the automated chlorination process and adding the right amount of chlorine to disinfect the water. âSo weâre working on that,â Olson said. Once we get that done, then weâll start putting that water into the system.â

Tank rupture leaves 1 dead, worsens water shortage

A mechanical failure led to the rupture of a 1.5 million-gallon water tank across the road West Hills College Lemoore, resulting in the death of a contractor and the injury of a city employee and has prompted the City to issue a state of emergency. According to Lemoore City Manager Nathan Olson, the contractor was trying to weld a new flange, on the tank at Well Site No.7 on Monday afternoon. The tank had about four to six feet of air inside of it at the top but had been vented. However, something inside the tank ignited, causing an explosion. âWhen the tank ignited, the tank literally lifted off like a rocket,â Olson said. âSo once the tank lifted off, the 1.5 million gallons of water created a tsunami.â
