Mayor, Council Members Sworn In To Begin New Terms Mayor Andy Smith and city council members were sworn in to begin new terms during the Tuesday, May 18, meeting of the Hillsboro City Council. Municipal Court Judge Nicole Crain administered the Oath of Office to the mayor and council members Eric Fleming (Place 1), Dana Robinson (Place 3) and Leann Richmond (Place 5). The returning office holders were unopposed in their bids for re-election this year. Planning and zoning requests were also approved, including an ordinance to allow K and T Axe House to operate as an indoor amusement center downtown and an ordinance abandoning an alley adjacent to 605 Park Street.

Local COVID-19 Testing Center Operates Daily The regional COVID-19 testing center in Hill County is open at the Hill County Courthouse John Erwin Annex as a drive-through or walk-up testing site. The annex is located at 200 East Franklin Street in Hillsboro. The site is operating from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. seven days a week. Anyone, no matter where they live, can be tested with no out-of-pocket expense at the center. Those who have Medicare or health insurance should provide that information, but there is no out-of-pocket cost to the public for testing. No appointment is needed, but those being tested are asked to register ahead of time to speed up the process.

Testing Center Reopens In New Location Dec. 26 The regional COVID-19 testing center in Hill County will operate this week and then close Thursday, December 24, and Friday, December 25, for Christmas. It will reopen in a new location, at the Hill County Courthouse John Erwin Annex, on Saturday, December 26, at 8 a.m. as a drive-through testing site. The annex is located at 200 East Franklin Street in Hillsboro. When it reopens, the site will operate from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. seven days a week. The center will be moved back to the Hill County Fairgrounds the first week of February.
