Fall River Middle Schoolers Given Hands-on Robotics Experience A physics teacher from Bishop Connolly is leading middle school students in robotics and science challenges during the pandemic. If things were normal right now, middle school students across the state would be participating in the FIRST LEGO League robotics challenges around this time of year. According to a recent press release, social distancing and other safety considerations have altered these plans for the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Fall River. For Fall River area Catholics, the pandemic intensifies Lent and Easter

FALL RIVER For Catholics in the Diocese of Fall River, the pandemic has brought changes to both the logistics of practicing their faith and the spiritual content of those practices. This will ring especially true as area Catholics observe Ash Wednesday this week and the period of Lent leading up to Easter Sunday. “Lent, and then Easter, are ultimately seasons of hope, because they are seasons that remind us that there is nothing that is impossible through God,” said Father Tom Washburn, rector of Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption and pastor in the Good Shepherd and St. Stanislaus parishes.
