MIDDLETOWN The Middlesex United Way is pleased to invite you to join us virtually on Jan 28 to honor volunteers and community leaders, in addition to celebrating a year of many accomplishments, at our annual meeting. This year’s celebration will look different than those in years past.
The pandemic has certainly reminded us of the importance of gratitude. This year, we want to share that with our partners, volunteers, and donors who made outstanding accomplishments in 2020 despite all the challenges. This year’s meeting will feature a 7:47 Virtual Gratitude Experience, facilitated by Chris Schembra, to celebrate and thank everyone for their continued work. We will reflect on
I sometimes think of God’s plan as one beautiful tapestry that will not be revealed to us until we meet Him. God’s plan involves all His children. He wants us to love and help each other as He loves and helps us.
Each of us is one thread in the tapestry, but all the threads are needed. In this life, we need each other to do good works and to accept good works. The Diocese of Norwich Outreach to Haiti (Outreach) is one example of people loving each other and helping one another.
Almost 40 years ago, lay people and religious from the Diocese of Norwich, including Bishop Daniel P. Reilly, visited Haiti. Their interest, care and concern for our Haitian brothers and sisters and our Gospel mission have carried forward to the present day with Outreach to Haiti.
For many of us, the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas has become a special time for us to reflect on the approaching birth of Christ and to thank God for His many gifts by allowing His love to shine through us to help others.
Faith, our most important gift, allows us to know God and each other. While God has given each of us at least one talent, we know through the gift of faith we are brothers and sisters literally and figuratively because all men are made in the image and likeness of God. This gift of faith is evidenced by the Diocese of Norwich Outreach to Haiti twinning program that encourages parishes and schools in the United States to twin with parishes and schools in Haiti. These relationships are based on faith and allow us to share gospel values.
