Ministers Humphreys, McGrath and OâBrien launch â¬10m Community Fund
Supports for organisations which deliver critical services to the vulnerable
Community centres providing social services can also apply for funding
Fund to prioritise groups who have not received support since onset of pandemic
Applications have opened for a â¬10 million fund designed to support community and voluntary groups, charities and social enterprises, which have suffered as a result of the pandemic.
The Covid Stability Fund 2021 was launched jointly today by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Michael McGrath TD, and Minister of State with special responsibility for Charities and Community Development, Joe OâBrien TD.
MORE than 30 small businesses in York are vying for a share of a £20,000 fund set up to support the city s economic recovery as restrictions ease. Applications have flooded in since First York launched the York Restart Fund last week to help small operators post lockdown. Half of the entries so far have come from businesses in York city centre, while 45 per cent are from retailers, 25 per cent from hospitality and the rest from the leisure, health and beauty sectors. Marc Bichtemann, the bus operator s managing director, said the fantastic response so far had been heartening. Stressing that the fund was open to businesses across the city, he added: It is meant to be a catalyst to show that partnership can be a real driver behind recovery.
REPORTS Councillor Gallant spoke about Environmental Development and the possibility of doing composting at the landfill; the bags used need to be compostable and the land will need to be levelled. Mayor Johnston attended the Churchbridge Business Association meeting; they are hopeful to still have June Daze this year. There will also be an information sign erected by the rest stop or the coin monument; CBA (Churchbridge Business Association) will be donating $1500 towards this. There is an Economic Development Committee being set up and the Churchbridge Credit Union is willing to join. Recreation and Culture were next with Councillor Antosh-Cusitar. She attended the rink board meeting and reported that all of the board has resigned except for the President who will remain on the board for 1 more year; all other board positions will need volunteers and tenders will be put out for the kitchen and Zamboni.
