HYANNIS – No one was injured Monday when a Cape Air plane experienced engine failure at Cape Cod Gateway Airport.
The Cape Air Cessna 402 experienced left-engine failure during a training session. The pilot brought the plane to a safe stop off the runway.
Two people were aboard the plane at the time of the incident.
The Hyannis Fire Department received a call about the engine failure at 3:27 p.m., Hyannis fire Capt. Mark Storie said.
Fire department crews were at the airport for about an hour and a half.

Cape Cod National Seashore hosts National Park Week activities

WELLFLEET – Interpretive guided walks, an historical scavenger hunt and some family friendly activities are on the docket for National Park Week at Cape Cod National Seashore.
The week, which kicks off Saturday and runs through April 25, includes all national parks in the country. The National Seashore is one of 16 national parks in the state and one of 400 across the nation.
COVID-19-safe programs are planned, according to Leslie Reynolds, assistant superintendent of the Seashore. They include interpretative, educational whale-watching walks led by National Park Service rangers, family-friendly activities at Button Bush Trail in Eastham, and pop-up activities at Salt Pond Visitors Center in Eastham.
Two Toyota dealerships on Cape Cod have come under new ownership, and facilities are expected to be renovated as part of multiple changes.
Group 1 Automotive last month announced its acquisition of the dealerships in Hyannis and Orleans. What is now Ira Toyota of Orleans received its new Auto Class 1 license from the Select Board on April 7, and the new Ira Toyota of Hyannis got its license on Monday.
The Ira Group has been part of Group 1 Automotive for nearly 20 years, according to senior vice president Pete Delongchamp.
The acquisition brings Houston-based Group 1’s total U.S. Toyota dealership network to 15, and its New England dealership network to 10: seven in Massachusetts and three in New Hampshire. The Group 1 website lists ownership of 227 dealerships of various makes and 30 collision centers in the U.S., United Kingdom and Brazil.
