New Braunfels City Council members on Monday will consider an ordinance revision that would define efficiency and studio apartments and identify vehicle parking standards for those types of housing units.
A second public hearing has been scheduled regarding a wind farm project proposed for Young County. The Young County Commissioners Court will open the floor for public opinion at 10 a.m.
A proposed solar power plant project in southwest Brown County is still under consideration. The project has been proposed by IP Radian/Intersect Power of San Francisco, California. It would cover approximately 3000 acres and produce up to 300 mega-watts of electricity, enough to power up to 50,000 homes. The project would be solar only, no wind turbines.
In January of 2020 the Brookesmith ISD voted to create a “Radian Reinvestment Zone for the 3000 acres of the project, and approved a Texas Chapter 313 Appraised Value Limitation.
IP Radian also requested a property tax abatement from Brown County, but that was voted down by the Commissioners Court on May 10.
The Monday, May 10 meeting of Brown County Commissioners has been moved from the Courthouse to the Adams Street Community Center. The reason is a large crowd is anticipated as Commissioners consider a request by IP Radian for a reinvestment zone and tax abatement for a proposed solar farm in southwest Brown County. The meeting will begin at 9:00 am.
