Police are still investigating a serious gang-related firearms incident at a downtown Auckland hotel 16 April 2021 Armed officers were called to the Sofitel Hotel at the Viaduct yesterday morning. Detective Inspector John Sutton says it s extremely concerning and they ve spoken with a number of people. However, no arrests have been made. He says those involved in the incident are from the Head Hunters and Mongols gangs. Sutton says it s believed yesterday s incident is linked to shots being fired at the Head Hunters gang pad on Marua Road, in Mt Wellington, last weekend. Police are issuing a strong warning to both gangs regarding reckless, dangerous and unlawful behaviour.
