NEWARK - The Licking County Health Department issued an alert Friday afternoon, informing the public of increased naloxone use in the western part of the county.
The agency said naloxone, the drug overdose reversal drug, has seen an increased use by paramedics in the western area of Licking County in the past six days. They said their Drug Overdose Prevention Coalition received an alert from West Licking Joint Fire District Assistant Chief Joe Krouse about the increased use by his department. The health department values our community partners and our Drug Overdose Prevention Coalition so that we can work together to identify local increases such as this one, Licking County Health Commissioner Chad Brown said. Alerting the public with this type of information and providing education and resources to help prevent overdoses is an important piece of protecting public health in Licking County.
