ITC extends financial support to set up 200-300 bed Covid facility

The company’s paperboards unit in Bhadrachalam in Telangana has already commenced supply of oxygen to identified government hospitals in the state. In addition, ITC is also importing oxygen concentrators and generators. ITC is also providing support for vaccination to value chain partners in the eco-system across the country.

ITC Ltd has extended financial support for creating a 200-300 bed Covid facility which is being set up by Medica Superspeciality Hospital in Kolkata. The makeshift facility will also augment vaccination drive of the government.

Kolkata: Two private hospitals have inaugurated Swasthya Sathi wards. The first dedicated wards in the city have been set up at AMRI Hospitals and RTIICS this week.
According to the hospital authorities, with a steady surge in the number of patients looking for admission under Swasthya Sathi, that was extended to cover all the state residents last November, these wards would assist the hospitals strike a balance between the scheme admissions and the rest, ensuring that none is turned away.

The chairperson of the West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission has said private hospitals are free to reduce the number of Covid beds if they wished so.
Several private hospitals were mulling to reduce the number of Covid beds as number of non-Covid patients was in the rise. Some hospitals said they would seek an informal approval from the government before reducing beds.
The commission had asked all private hospitals to increase the number of Covid beds ahead of Durga Puja and Diwali, when many had apprehended a rise in the numbers of Covid patients.
