Track and field travels to South Carolina after top 20 national rankings

2 min read After a top performance at the Razorback Invite last week, the Ole Miss men’s and women’s track and field teams received national rankings in Week Two of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Rating Index. The men’s team ranked No. 6, and the women’s team ranked No. 18. The men’s ranking is the highest that any Ole Miss track and field team has seen since Week One of the 2008 rankings when the women’s team was placed at No. 7. The new No. 6 men’s ranking comes after the men placed third overall at the Razorback Invite.

2020 NCAA DI Men s Cross Country Regional Rankings – Week 4 ::: USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS – We’re less than six weeks away from the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma, which were postponed until March 15 from their original date of November 21 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Even though there won’t be Regional Championships to decide which teams automatically advance to the meet, we figured it was high time to release the first edition of the NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2020 season to see how things are shaping up. NOTE: Only those teams who competed and/or have the intention to compete prior to the completion of the season are eligible for ranking.

Ole Miss track and field excels during historic Razorback Invite

2 min read Ole Miss men’s and women’s track and field shattered two school records and scored historic numbers at the Razorback Invite events over the weekend. Mario Garcia Romo started the record-breaking tallies in the men’s 3K race, clocking in with a time of 7:48.40. The reigning SEC cross country champion finished fourth, hit a 17-second personal record and shattered the previous school record of 7:54.58. Garcia Romo took to Twitter after his win. “A year ago I did a 30’ bike ride in the morning and 45’ of aqua-jogging in the afternoon,” he said. “Worked pretty hard to get here, but we still have a long way to go. Shout-out @ryanvanhoy and @OleMissTrack, can’t wait to see what’s waiting for us in the next months!”

Distance battles await No 1 Arkansas in Razorback Invitational

Featured on Friday are the distance medley relay, long jump and the first day of the heptathlon. Saturday’s menu includes a very talented field in the 3,000m as well as the usual array of national caliber athletes across various events. “Everybody brings something a little different each weekend,” said Arkansas men’s head coach Chris Bucknam. “When you look at the schools that come in this week, they bring a different flavor. The flavor this week is maybe not so quite the ballistic events as it is maybe the distances. Again, though, there will be some good sprinting and jumping going on.”
