IBM has named Antoine Shagoury, formerly the CIO at State Street and the London Stock Exchange, to be the chief technology officer at its Kyndryl managed infrastructure business spinoff, the company said Monday.
Kyndryl is also establishing an advisory practice of senior experts to assist customers with designing and deploying advanced technology environments, IBM said.
IBM continues to staff up Kyndryl, which remains on pace to spin off from IBM by the end of 2021 and become an independent, publicly held company. Under a plan announced last October IBM is splitting in two, creating Kyndryl by spinning off its Global Technology Services managed infrastructure services unit.

IBM has revealed the name of its US$19 billion managed services business to be Kyndryl ahead of its separation from Big Blue at the end of 2021.
The vendor claimed the name was a portmanteau of ‘kin’ in kinship and ‘dril’ from tendril, which it says represents growth and “advancing human progress”. Moving away from the provisional name of NewCo, CEO Martin Schroeter claimed the new branding “evokes the spirit of true partnership and growth . Customers around the world will come to know Kyndryl as a brand that runs the vital systems at the heart of progress, and an independent company with the best global talent in the industry,” he said.
Two veteran IBM executives with global experience have been tapped to lead the company’s IT management and infrastructure business, once that is eventually spun out.
IBM picked Elly Keinan as group president of NewCo., which is expected to be named later. Keinan has previously worked as general manager of IBM North America, general manager of IBM Latin America, and chairman of IBM Japan, during his 30 year tech career. Keinan was most recently a partner with Pitango Venture Capital, Israel’s leading venture capital group.
NewCo’s chief marketing officer will be Maria Bartolome Winans. The 25-year company veteran, has been the chief marketing officer for IBM Americas, responsible for demand generation across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. She has also led marketing teams for IBM Watson’s business, as well as IBM’s software unit.
