AS we conclude our discussion on solid waste management issues confronting the Marianas, I canât help but be optimistic about how todayâs generation is vocal about our problems with garbage and making a move to address these concerns.
A recent video entitled âThe World is Ours,â produced for Miss Northern Marianas Earth Maria Terlajeâs campaign, encourages the youth to speak up and protect Mother Earth. Youth from across the Marianas shared their concerns about the islands they call home. Nine-year-old Zayden Seman described our environment as âstruggling because people are throwing trash.â Sixteen-year-old Isa Long of Tinian emphasized the need to spread awareness and take action to prevent further harm to our islands.
IN a proclamation signing ceremony on Monday at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios kicked off National Library Week, which runs this entire week.
The administration noted that libraries of all types are at the heart of their cities, towns, schools, and campuses, serving their communities, accessible and inclusive, fostering a sense of belonging.
Todayâs libraries, they said, provide services beyond the four walls of a building, welcoming people from all walks of life to use their resources, such as free internet access.
âLibraries strive to develop and maintain programs and collections that are as diverse as the populations they serve, and ensure equality of access to all,â said the administration.
