An Indianapolis man convicted of battering two pregnant women and fatally shooting his friend has been sentenced to 45 years in prison in the 2018 incident, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.
Perise Fowler was found guilty earlier this year in the slaying of 39-year-old Byron Miller after a two-day trial.
“Far too often guns are unnecessarily introduced into arguments and have tragic and far-reaching consequences,” said Prosecutor Ryan Mears said in a news release. “This sentence demonstrates a commitment to justice and accountability, though no resolution can truly remedy the pain of losing a loved one and the impact on the community.”
