He died a lonely motel death but it wasn’t because no one cared

SALEM As Jean Hendron climbed the flight of stairs to a Salem motel on the edge of town, she had a feeling she might find Brian Jackman dead.
The night before, she brought him a strawberry milkshake in her routine of regularly checking on him.
“I’ll be back before you have to pay for your room,” she told him before she left for the night.
Her fear gripped her several times over the previous eight months.
Before she slipped the key into the blue door, she knocked, as she had always done when she went to check on Jackman at the various motels he had stayed in on and off over the past year.

INDIANAPOLIS Live music venues like downtown s Slippery Noodle are back in play but still singing the blues, especially in Marion County where mask mandates and capacity limits remain in place. We re looking for a big summer, said Josh Caplinger, a Slippery Noodle partner. But you have to bring people in, and that s the main part.
With warmer weather here, the Slippery Noodle and others with the necessary space are moving the music outdoors when possible. The only way we can do anything of any size is outside, said Mike Quarto, who owns the Mousetrap Bar and Grill. We can actually close down the parking lot and put up a stage.
Other recipients include Indiana State Representative Greg Porter and Floyd Keith, the chief executive officer of Planned Positive Attitude Professional Services.
“These eight individuals are trailblazers, leaders, accomplished athletes and community warriors, and we celebrate them as role models and beacons of society, Gragg said.
The other four recipients were from San Antonio, the host city of the 2021 Women s Final Four.
The Legacy Award recipients from San Antonio include former athlete Clarissa Davis-Wrightsil and chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas Maj. Gen. Angie Salinas.
Becky Hammon, the first female full-time assistant coach in the NBA, was also recognized. As was Stacey Johnson, the founder of the “Dreams for Youth” San Antonio Sports Foundation which is a grant program that serves more than 200,000 children in the city.
