INDIANAPOLIS The Indianapolis City County Council voted Monday to maintain current orders in place from the Marion County Health Department.
The body adopted Proposal 170, an ordinance ratifying public health orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This evening, the Indianapolis City-County Council considered and ratified the most recent Public Health Order issued by Marion County Health Department Director Dr. Virginia Caine, said Council President Vop Osili. I am thankful that my colleagues voted to continue standing firmly behind Dr. Caine’s leadership and her commitment to making local public health decisions based on science and data. Commission talks updates on county roads
The Marion County Board of Commissioner met for their weekly meeting on Monday. The highlight of the meeting was hearing an update on progress being made on getting rock distributed out to roads in serious need of it.
Brice Goebel, County Engineer gave the update to the commissioners.
Goebel expressed gratitude to everyone who reached out to him the past week to express condolences on his mother dying.
“I appreciate that and it goes a long way. It’s never a good thing, but obviously she is in a better place,” said Goebel
Goebel asked for vacation extension days on a staff member who has been unable to use any time-off due to needing to be available for work. The commission voted on a 90 day extension for the employee to use his vacation time.
Keeping With New Law, City-County Council Reauthorizes Mask Mandate, Other Restrictions
INDIANAPOLIS Coronavirus restrictions were lifted in Marion County for all of a few hours Monday evening but were quickly put back in place in a vote at an Indianapolis city-county council meeting later that night.
Restrictions were rendered null and void Monday afternoon when the state legislature voted to override Gov. Eric Holcomb’s veto of a bill that puts the final decision on health orders under an emergency in the hands of local elected leaders and out of the hands of local health leaders.
Keeping with the new law, known as Senate Bill 5 in the legislature, the Indy city-county council had already planned to meet Monday night and voted to reinstate Marion County local COVID restrictions.
