PPC: Peter McCall Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Peter McCall, received £311,358 from the Home Office’s Safer Streets Fund following a successful bid. The Fund is aimed to help reduce neighbourhood crime, increase safety of residents and reduce the demand of Police. The St Michael’s ward in Allerdale, which is a predominately residential area but will also cover St. Michael’s Nursery and Infant School and Vulcan Park, will be the recipient of the fund. The PCC will work alongside Cumbria Constabulary, Allerdale Local Focus Hub, the West Cumbria Community Safety Partnership, Allerdale Borough Council and Cumbria County Council to implement the changes and upgrades.
Allerdale community lottery goes from strength to strength
Allerdale’s community lottery has gone from strength to strength in its first six months, benefitting community groups throughout the borough and providing prizes to many lucky winners.
The council is now looking to build on this success by encouraging more organisations to sign-up and more people to buy tickets and show their support for local good causes.
Allerdale and Lakeland Lottery was set up late in 2020 to help community groups and charitable organisations raise much-needed financial support.
It costs £1 per game and participants could win up to £25,000 as part of the weekly draw.
