Of today s cases, 75 are linked to a known case or cluster and 21 cases were infectious in the community. A man in his 70s who lived in Sydney s eastern suburbs and was a confirmed Covid-19 case has died, NSW Health said. There are currently 65 cases in hospital, with 21 in intensive care and four on ventilators.

Goya Dmytryshchak A Maribyrnong apartment complex on Tuesday was in lockdown as authorities traced COVID-positive removalists from NSW. Ariele Apartments at 7 Thomas Holmes Street was listed as a tier one exposure site on Monday night. The health advice is that anyone who was in the residential part of the complex between 1pm and 11.59pm on Thursday, July 8 must get tested immediately and quarantine for 14 days from the exposure. Anyone who entered the building from July 9 to 12 must also get tested and isolate until they test negative. This includes anyone who accessed the residential foyer, stairwells, lift, residential floors and carpark.

But in a glimmer of hope the state could be turning the tide on the outbreak of the highly-contagious Delta variant, only 14 of those cases were unlinked to known clusters - down from 48 mystery infections from Monday.  Of the new local cases, 30 were out in the community for either part of or all of their  infectious period. 

Ballan Mobil and McDonalds named tier one COVID-19 sites

Benjamin Millar Two Ballan locations have been listed as tier one exposure sites after being visited by a COVID-positive removalist team from NSW. People who visited the Mobil and McDonalds stores on the westbound side of the Western Freeway between 5pm and 7pm Thursday, July 8, have been ordered to get tested immediately and quarantine for 14 days from the exposure. The exposure sites include the bathroom and shower facilities at the Mobil service station. Victoria’s Covid commander Jeroen Weimar said on Tuesday that the removalist crew may not have adequately followed strict restrictions placed on them as part of their permit to enter Victoria.
