Middletown Acting Health Director Kevin Elak expects a rush of people in the new age eligibility to register for the shots come Friday, which will likely delay appointments.
Gov. Ned Lamont announced Monday that people 45 and older will be eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine as of Friday and that everyone 16 and older will be eligible on April 5.
Since vaccine distribution began, Elak said, his office has been getting a minimum of 200 Moderna doses a week, although he routinely asks for more from the state. Each municipality received a baseline allocation.
